P90X3 Day #1: Total Synergistics

P90X3 DAY #1 IS IN THE BOOKS!!!

SO PUMPED about this program and the results it's going to get! P90X3 Total Synergistics is exactly what it sounds like (I have no idea what it sounds like, but it's cool).Basically, it's a full body workout. It's got a little bit of everything: push-ups, pull-ups, core work, squats, yoga, etc. Balls to the wall, 30 minutes and you're out of there!

A question we've been receiving lately is what kind of equipment do I need? If possible, get weights (dumbbells), pull-up bar, and/or bands. If anything, get bands. If you're not able to do pull-ups, no worries bands will absolutely do the trick. Remember, as long as you put forth the effort, push yourself and keep control of the bands you will feel every bit of it the next day in places you never thought could be sore.

The key is to remember this is Day #1 of P90X3 so you're not going to be perfect. Some of the pull-up/ab combos I couldn't do. Just grabbed the bands and knocked it out. All in all, I cannot wait to see what elese P90X3 has in store over the next 90 days. Once again, Beachbody and Tony Horton killed it with putting everything in 30 minutes!!! Absolutely no excuses anymore, time to get after it!

How long does it take to complete P90X3?
P90X3 is a 90 day program, split into 3 Blocks. Blocks 1 & 2 each consist of 4 weeks, while Block 3 lasts 5 weeks.
Additionally, the Elite Block calendar, which is an optional block to be completed AFTER the initial 90 days, lasts 4 weeks.

How is P90X3 Different from P90X & X2?


This is the #1 question from everyone right now and it's really no secret!  A lot of changes from P90X / P90X2 to P90X3. Let's lay it out for you:
    1. 30 minutes and you're done!  Biggest frustration with the originals was the time constraint, now it's half the time (there's also a schedule for doubles).  You can also choose to "Cold Start" with no warm-up or do the short warm-up DVD prior to your workout (your call).
    2. Brand new for Tony Horton and the X Brand is the incorporation of PILATES!
    3. Familiar with P90X? There's brand new MMX moves, basically the Kenpo X workout from P90X has evolved like crazy!  
    4. Basic Package has 16 Workouts. Deluxe Package has 20 WORKOUTS!
    5. Old schedule get s revamp.  Like the original P90X (Classic, Lean and Doubles), P90X3 has added a Mass Schedule for more muscle building.  If you're one of the crazies who likes the hour long workouts, hit them Double Days!
    6. Back to Basics Nutrition!  Throw out the complex meal plans and back to a very simple easy to follow nutrition plan where you just focus on what you eat, not so much how much you eat and calorie counting.  Clean eating baby, that's it!

IT'S OFFICIAL! P90X3 IS COMING!



This past week at their Elite Coach Leadership Workshop, Beachbody officially announced the upcoming release of Tony Horton's P90X3! Cannot believe he's finally back! I've done P90X before and absolutely LOVE IT! The hardest part about it, the workouts are all 55 minutes to 90 minutes. For someone like me, full-time job, 2 kids, leader at church it's daunting to put in that kind of work day in and day out.

P90X3 is all about 30 minutes baby! That's it! The best part, you don't HAVE to be a P90X or P90X2 graduate to do P90X3. The concept stems from Shaun T's widely popular Focus T25. All you need is a little bit of time and some FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS!!!

P90X3 is all about building muscle, burning fat and getting RIPPED with MUSCLE ACCELERATION; the ULTIMATE EXCUSE-BUSTER!

Focus T25 Results: Week 1

We just finished Week #1 of our Focus T25 Challenge Group and we have seen some INSANE results!!! So stoked to have such a great challenge group that has had fun with each other while dominating their workouts and nutrition daily! Here are some highlights so far:

Snacks??? You Talkin' 'Bout Snacks???

Got after it today in Focus T25! Day #3 of our Fit Dynasty Challenge (Total Body Circuit) was unfreaking real!!! Loved it and hated it. Every minute. A lot of plank, push up, squats and punching. Absolutely awesome! Check out the video for a bit more about it and how it killed me...

Wanted to hit on a topic I get asked a lot about: SNACKS. We all love snacking. In the morning, afternoon, evening, middle of the night. You name it, we want to eat it any time of the day. Most of the time if we don't feed our bodies with snacks, they turn into indulgences and it's a slippery slope from there. Finding healthy snacks that don't break the bank to crush between your meals is tough to do. A lot of solutions revolve around making your own (which can be very time consuming and they usually don't turn out tasting so good). Or we spend a ridiculous amount of cash on pre-packaged protein bars. Ever hear of the company CLIF BAR??? Guess how they got started?

Guy was on a 175-mile bike ride. Got sick of eating nasty energy bars and decided I can make something better than this (BAM! Epiphany). Spends 2 years creating recipes and built one of the most successful natural energy bar companies.

If you want the best you've got to be able to make it yourself. The recipe I give you is for your SNACK TIME! It's a very simple to make and insanely delicious PROTEIN BAR!!! 5 ingredients, a bowl, mixing spoon and a fridge. All you need. Ready to give it a shot?

Homemade Protein Bars

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups Oats
  • 4 Scoops Chocolate Whey Protein (Feel free to experiment with other flavors)
  • 1 Cup Almond Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Almond Butter (or Peanut Butter, your choice)
  • 3-4 ounces dark chocolate (I prefer 85% Cocoa)
How Do I Make This Stuff?:
  • Mix all ingredients (except for chocolate) in a large mixing bowl. 
  • Place cookie sheet on pan (easy removal of protein bar once complete)
  • Spread mixed ingredients evenly on the pan
  • Break up chocolate into microwaveable bowl and microwave for 3-4 minutes (typically 1 minute/ounce of chocolate)
    • Feel free to melt your chocolate on the stovetop (your preference)
  • Pour and layer the melted chocolate on top of the ingredients in the pan.
  • Place in the fridge for 1-2 hours (to solidify).
  • Once complete cut into 8+ pieces
BOOM! There you have it. Homemade protein bars at a fraction of the cost that taste INCREDIBLE!!! I hope this recipe finds you well and helps you on your fitness journey! Please let me know any modifications that worked out for you guys, love sharing!!!

Focus T25: Speed 1.0 (Keepin' It in the Family)

The reason I got into this business and decided to change my own life as well as the lives of others, was to set a good example for my kids. My kids are almost 6 and 4 years old and I've realized more and more every day they watch EVERY MOVE I MAKE. Literally. Every. Move. Any little thing I say or do they repeat or point it out to me. I've never had someone focus on my actions that long and it has kept me in check like crazy. I begin to ask myself, "Am I doing and saying the right things? Would I want my kids saying or doing this? Am i being a good parent?"

Am I perfect at this? HECK NO!!! No parent is, and if someone says they are, they're lying to your face (if you're offended you're that guy). I fail. I fail every day. If you're not failing you're not growing. Growth comes from failure. So I've begun to involve my kids in my workouts more and more. I still get an INCREDIBLE workout with Focus T25 and push myself more and more every workout. I've realized I can't just tell them the right things to do, I have to show them (especially when it comes to eating right and working out). 

I believe in Beachbody and their products because it has changed my life. I've met countless people that have had the same experience I've had with this company and their motto: #EndTheTrend. I want to help END THE TREND in my own life, the lives of others and the lives of my children. I don't want to just have personal success, I want to leave a legacy behind that has left others inspired and sets my kids up for success in their own lives.


Find a way to involve your children. If you don't have kids, find a way to involve someone else. Be the change you want in the world!!!

Focus T25 Challenge Group!!!

LET THE MAYHEM BEGIN!!!

So stoked our Focus T25 Challenge group has begun! Today is officially Day #1! We have 6 people in the group, all focused and ready to change their lives! Can't wait to get after it with them every day! It's awesome because your mind and body thinks its cheating, but in reality it's incredibly healthy and you kill 2 birds with 1 stone and don't have to feel guilt about it. Focus T25: Lower Focus & Cardio

Friday was here, which means DOUBLE DAY!!! YEAH BUDDY!!!

Turns out it's more like a double punch to the face day. WOW, was this intense. Friday is the butt-kicker end of the week workout that gives you the option to double down on your final workout of the week or (if you would like) you can do 1 Friday and the other over the weekend. We prefer to GO HARD OR GO HOME, so we doubled down.

We met up with mentors/upline coaches of ours (Todd & Alisha Midgett of NCFitClub) to knock this out! So we hit the Energy & Endurance Formula and setup the GoPro's. Let's see what happened...


UNREAL WORKOUT!!! Went Back 2 Back like America in the World Wars and just about died! First workout was Lower Focus. This was a pure methodical workout that forced you to keep your core tight and focus on the movements you were doing. The full 25 minutes felt like a burnout. Great to have Todd and Alisha there to push us through (and I'm sure we pushed them a bit further also).

Workout #2 was Cardio. Cardio was basically lower focus but faster. The first few minutes was the same as Lower Focus, but then you realized you were doing the movements much faster but still controlled (thanks to Lower Focus) which made you keep your core tight (and I'm FEELING IT TODAY)!!! More importantly, this workout truly was all about FOCUS. You're tired (check that, exhausted) already, muscles are weak, and your mind wants to just get through it. Shaun T forces you to focus on your form and your energy to get the most out of it. No one ever became successful because of how they started, but how they finished. Needless to say, by the time the workout was done all of our legs were jello and ready for a magical shot of Results & Recovery Formula...CLUTCH!

Focus T25: Speed 1.0 (The Fit Dynasty)

I keep getting asked, "Do you really get a good workout in 25 minutes???"

ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY I DO!!!



Between my husband and I we've done P90X, Insanity, Les Mills Combat and a handful of other programs and we get just as good if not better sweat and calorie burn with Focus T25! No lie, it's unreal. You don't stop moving for 25 minutes. You're constantly moving, heart rate is up and constant. On top of that, my core is improving drastically!!! You are constantly working your core without even knowing which makes it all that much better!

Focus T25 is exhausting, so you're always looking for that one workout. That one day where it might be a little bit easier than the others so you can breathe a sigh of relief for just a few short moments. You think that's the case with Speed 1.0 (Alpha Phase). Punch me in the face, karate chop me in the neck because that's not the case. You may be doing less intense moves, but you're doing them fast. Not just kind of fast, but Lindsay Lohan getting arrested when she leaves her house fast! And more importantly, you're using precision and performing these moves with a purpose. INSANE WORKOUT!!!

One thing I will say and swear by is the Energy & Endurance Formula as well as the Results & Recovery Formula. The E&E allows you to push your workouts to the next level and break through those tough moments. I've noticed with the Results & Recovery formula I haven't been as sore and my body is recovering much quicker than when I don't take it. MONEY STUFF!

Focus T25 Alpha Cycle!!!


So the wife got back from Summit 2013 and had an INSANE time! Got to meet a lot of new people and a lot of the people who have inspired her. She came back with a crazy amount of motivation to hit her own goals while helping others achieve theirs. To top it off, we got to pre-purchase Focus T25 before anybody else. I'm about 7 days into the program and it is as INTENSE AS ADVERTISED!!! Not only do you get a full blown workout in 25 minutes, it feels like it happens in 5 minutes. So much is done is such a short amount of time because you are doing 1 thing: focusing on doing the moves right. If you do this, you'll get maximum results, that easy.  

As a parent of 2 kids and a demanding full time job this program is a crazy blessing! I was always able to get P90X, Insanity and Les Mills Combat done, but I was getting up at 5am to get it done (i.e. get the dogs fed, brush my teeth, get dressed, try not to wake up the kids, get the equipment out, etc). By this time it's 530am-545am, workout is done by 645am and now it's time to get breakfast down while helping my wife with the morning routine and getting myself ready for work. EXHAUSTING RIGHT!?!?!? Focus T25 let's me get a little extra sleep and is so quick the kids have no idea it happened and by the end of it I've burned 600 calories and I'm dripping sweat!
